Corynoxine B

Corynoxine B is a natural compound that has been found to induce autophagy, a cellular process of self-digestion that can prevent the accumulation of protein aggregates and other toxic substances in cells. This process also has neuroprotective effects and may be useful for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Corynoxine B might also have antidepressant effects due to its interaction with the opioid system. The receptor knockout studies have shown that corynoxine is a selective agonist for toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). Corynoxine B has been found to be active against many bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and others. It is not active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
