Description :
CD362, also known as SDC2 (syndecan 2), Fibroglycan and HSPG (heparan sulfate proteoglycan core protein), is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell adhesion, signaling, and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. CD362 is a 201 amino acid (aa) single pass type I transmembrane protein. CD362 contains an N-terminal signal peptide, a 126-aa extracellular domain (ECD) with 4 potential glycosylation sites, a transmembrane domain (TM), and a short 32-aa cytoplasmic tail. CD362 may act as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation, cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. CD362 may also regulates dendritic arbor morphogenesis. Altered syndecan-2 expression has been detected in several different tumor types.
